There is no Ollie Robinson for England so there will be at least one change but there could also be others. Jack Leach looks certain to play so he will either replace Robinson or come in for one of England's two experienced fast-bowlers, Stuart Broad or James Anderson. Craig Overton is the other option for the number eight slot that Robinson occupied at Lord's. After impressing in India during the winter, Olly Stone might also come into the side for Mark Wood who England will want to keep fit and fresh.
Kane Williamson has been ruled out of the game with an elbow injury so New Zealand will be skippered by Tom Latham. With next week's World Test Championship firmly in their sights, there are likely to be other changes with Trent Boult set to play, probably for Tim Southee. Kyle Jamieson could be rested too, with Matt Henry the most likely replacement. Like Williamson, Mitchell Santner has also been ruled out by injury which could mean fellow left-arm spinner Ajaz Patel returns to the team for the first time since February 2020.
